It’s never too late to lend a hand. Help LifeSiteNews!

I’m a 38-year old journalist from across the ocean. More precisely, from Romania, an Eastern-European country with 20 million inhabitants. A country where abortion has been legal since 1958. My pro-life news portal has translated and republished over 240 articles from LifeSiteNews to help us give Romanians the pro-life truth they desperately need because of our extremely high abortion rate.

Since abortion was made legal here, over 22 million registered abortions (more than our entire population) have been performed in Romanian public hospitals. On top of that, there was an unknown number of illegal abortions performed. During the 1967 – 1989 period, in which the communist regime had introduced a series of restrictions, there were still 6,549,823 legal abortions performed. Also, there are the abortions that took place in private clinics after the fall of communism, which have not been included in the public records. And many of the two million Romanian women working in other nations have been aborting their children.

The complete number of Romanian abortions is not yet known, but the massive death total does not raise a reaction in Romania’s mainstream media. Abortion is a silent subject in Romania.

Now I work for the Stiripentruviata.ro Romanian pro-life news portal. When I joined this project, the few people working on it, mostly on voluntary basis, told me: “Read LifeSiteNews and LiveAction. You do it how they do it”.

I have the Reader’s Digest level of writing, so I haven’t yet gotten to doing it how they do it. But I’ve translated many of their stories. As I noted, Stiripentruviata.ro has translated and republished many LifeSiteNews articles. They were mostly translated by volunteers and proofread by a professional translator. Should we have more financial resources, we could produce more original stories of our own.

But I’m not writing to you to ask money for Stiripentruviata.ro. I’m asking you to help LifeSiteNews.

2014 Romanian March for Life promotion

They don’t just give us knowledge, but a lot of courage. They give us the courage that is possible to build an honest news portal.

So, by helping them, you help us. By helping them, you help the world build a real pro-life culture. You help us build know-how and strengthen our local pro-life news portal, by working on the very model of LifeSiteNews.

And this is true not only for Romania, but also for many other countries where pro-life activism is just starting to rise.

That’s why we thank you for helping LifeSiteNews, which has always been a source of great inspiration to us!

Sincerely yours,
